The American Society of Civil Engineers Alabama Section is excited to announce the 2027 ASCE Alabama Section Winter Meeting, taking place February 25, 2027, at the Synergic Center, located at 3650 5th St, Northport, AL 35476. Situated along the banks of the Black Warrior River, the Tuscaloosa area offers a unique setting where Alabama’s rich history, vibrant university community, and continued growth in infrastructure and development come together. We look forward to bringing civil engineering professionals from across the state to the Tuscaloosa area for a day of professional development, networking, and fellowship.

Tuscaloosa has played an important role in Alabama’s history since its early settlement along the Black Warrior River. Named after Tuskaloosa, a 16th-century paramount chief of the Mississippian culture, the city was incorporated in 1819—the same year Alabama became a state. Tuscaloosa served as Alabama’s state capital from 1826 to 1846, before the capital was moved to Montgomery. Today, the city is perhaps best known as the home of the University of Alabama and remains an important center for education, industry, transportation, and economic development. The Black Warrior River, which has long influenced the area’s commerce and transportation, continues to be an important part of the region’s identity.

The 2027 Winter Meeting will provide an opportunity for civil engineers, industry professionals, consultants, educators, and students from across Alabama to come together to share knowledge, discuss current challenges and opportunities, and learn about innovative projects and practices shaping the future of our profession. As we gather in a community with such a strong connection to Alabama’s history and continued growth, we invite you to mark your calendar for February 25, 2027, hosted by the Tuscaloosa Branch! Additional information regarding registration, the meeting program, speakers, and sponsorship opportunities will be provided as the event approaches.
