Date: June 28th 2009

This is a reminder that the date for the Alabama Section ASCE 2009 Summer Meeting is rapidly approaching.

Registration:

You should have received a registration form by US Mail. One is also attached to this message along with a simple registration form. These documents and the sponsor/exhibitor registration form are available on the Events page at the Section website www.alabama-asce.org. Please register soon to help us plan better!

Hotel Rooms:

We still have a few room nights available under our commitment to the conference hotel. Call (800) 634-8001 and ask for the ASCE meeting rate.

Sponsors and Exhibitors:

There is always room for more of these. Contact Joe Meads at 205-940-6420 or jmeads@sain.com

Program:

The full program schedule is available on the Events page of the Section web site. If you are planning on attending, we need some members to serve as moderators for the sessions. If you would like to be a moderator, contact Robert Thompson at 334-239-3135 or rthompson@danbrownandassociates.com. You have to be able to keep time and be willing to keep the session on schedule (not let people go over their allotted time).

Our special guest during the Thursday business meeting will be Mr. David Mongan, P.E., F. ASCE, Past-President of ASCE. His presentation will discuss a number of issues/topics that are current within ASCE, including the Vision of the Civil Engineer in 2025, workforce development, Engineers Without Borders, the Body of Knowledge, sustainability and corruption.

Thursday night will include the annual Family Seafood Dinner.

The annual scholarship Golf Tournament will be held Friday afternoon.
