Two items concenring the upcoming Summer Meeting:

1. We are close to finalizing the 2009 Section Summer Meeting registration mailing. Watch both your e-mail inbox and your snail mail box. We'll be sending it out by e-mail as soon as it is ready, with the snail mail version following as soon as it is printed and the U.S. Postal Service gets it distributed. The form and the tentative schedule will also be posted to the Section website www.alabama-asce.org.
2. The Section Operating Manual (which includes the By-Laws and other documents that define how we operate) has been updated. The draft has been reviewed by the Board of Directors (including required input by the Society) and will be submitted to the membership for approval at the business meeting on July 30, 2009. The Board of Directors encourages members to review the draft before the meeting. The draft has been posted on the Section website in the members area. Go to www.alabama-section.org and look for the Login box on the left side. In the box is a link to create an account. Once you have created an account and logged in, click the link "Bylaws" in the Membership Info box in the left sidebar. The link to the draft manual is at the top of the page.
